In July 2019, five dental students will leave UNC on a four-week appointment in Malawi to provide healthcare services to the citizens of Malawi who would not receive these services otherwise. Our project goals include:
1. Provide emergency, preventative, and restorative dental care to those in need in Lilongwe Hospital, remote villages, and schools in several sectors of the country.
2. Educate Malawian school-aged children about oral health and hygiene and about the HIV/AIDS epidemic and risks associated with the disease.
3. Provide a cultural exchange between UNC students and Malawians and continue to collaborate with the University of Mzuzu School of Dentistry.
